IT Sourcing Europe highlights some of the findings of its Swedish IT Sourcing and Software Development Survey 2010 with regards to the key trends among the outsourcing companies in Sweden.

The survey findings allow us to observe the following trends among the Swedish software development outsourcers:

• more Swedish companies prefer to outsource nearshore and/or nearshore and within Sweden than offshore;
• the Top Three reasons why Swedish companies choose to outsource their software/web development are: to reduce operating costs; to accelerate time to market via flexibility and sustainability and difficulty finding necessary resources within home country;
• the majority of Swedish companies report saving 40%-59% of their operating costs via the outsourced development;
• most of Swedish outsourcing companies do not have 100% managerial control of their project teams and costs associated with outsourcing.

Overall, the Swedish clients challenge their ITO partners to be able to provide transparent cost structures as well as a combination of speed, cost management and growth supported by business agility and unprecedented technological innovation.
